Our company’s journey began with big ’wood batteries’, meant to be storing energy from solar or windmill parks. That is where our name comes from, “Ligna” translates to “woods” in Latin.
In 2021 a strategic decision was made and the team shifted focus towards thin and small bio-based supercapacitors for connected electronic devices.
Since our inception, Ligna has been committed to revolutionize the creation and application of products that store electric energy, initially in the energy sector and later in wireless electronics. The focal point of maximizing sustainability is highly affecting our decision making and priorities.

Made in Sweden
Our production and office facilities are located at the heart of the old industrial area in central Norrköping at the coast of southeast Sweden. The location is well suited and sized for supply of millions of units annually and there are forecasted locations available for our planned expansion.
Made in Sweden for us means uniquely innovative products produced locally – at high level of industrial automation and at the highest product quality.
The company remains fuelled by collaboration with the dedicated research team at Linköping University and the region’s pioneers of printed electronics, ensuring a constant stream of expertise and intellectual property that powers our way forward.
